GORDON MURRAY'S FORD ESCORT Mk1
This very special Ford Escort, commissioned by the legendary F1 designer Gordon Murray and built by Retropower, is possibly one of the best-known Escorts of recent years. Outwardly understated, it has been comprehensively modified, with Cosworth Duratec, Mazda 6-Speed gearbox, Nitron suspension and custom designed rear axle. Trimworks was entrusted with the design and build of the interior.

Simplicity was the key with the design of the interior. Gordon requested that the rear seat be replaced with a storage area for luggage. Seats were to be simple, classic-looking bucket seats. The dash has a simple pair of dials before the driver, with auxilliary gauges in the centre. The overall design echoes the original Escort item, but with subtly redesigned lines to create something bespoke. Flashes of Murray clan tartan sit beside black Porsche nappa leather and black Alcantara.
